Cladding & Recladding

Frameline Construction provides practical, code-compliant cladding and recladding services across greater Auckland. We specialise in weather-tightness remediation and exterior envelope upgrades, delivering end-to-end solutions from initial inspection and consenting through to final sign-off and the Code of Compliance. We work with your designer or architect where needed, and coordinate with specialist consultants for invasive investigations, moisture testing and structural repairs to make sure the fix is durable - not just cosmetic.

Our approach is straightforward and focused on performance: identify the cause (and extent) of water ingress, remove and replace any compromised materials, install approved cavity systems, insulation and building wrap, then fit cladding, flashings and joinery so the whole system works together. We source materials to suit period villas through to contemporary builds, and work with trusted local merchants to match style and durability requirements.

We carry the relevant public and statutory liability insurance, and operate as licensed building practitioners. Where projects require it, we manage council consents, inspections and the paperwork needed to achieve a Code of Compliance certificate. Our goal is a weather-tight, long-lasting result with clear, documented workmanship that stands up to inspections and future resale checks.

5. Site Setup & Protection

  • Scaffolding, safety barriers, and weather protection are installed to ensure a safe and compliant worksite.

Q. Does remedial weatherboard repair work require
building consent in NZ?

Minor like-for-like repairs
If you are simply replacing a few damaged weatherboards with the same type of material, in the same position, and not altering the building envelope or weathertightness system, this is usually considered maintenance under the Building Act. In most cases, no building consent is required.

Weathertightness / leaky remediation
Any work that involves investigating or repairing water ingress, or where recladding is done to address systemic weathertightness failures, does require consent. Council will expect proper documentation, inspection stages, and a Code of Compliance Certificate (CCC) at the end.

Partial recladding / larger areas
If you are replacing a significant area of cladding (generally more than 20m² in one wall face, or work that affects structural integrity, fire safety, or weathertightness), then building consent is required.
